Huayi Brothers Media, the most profitable film company in China, has announced that it will distribute the Golden Bear film Black Coal, Thin Ice, which will hit the Chinese cinema on March 21, the local Spring Equinox.

A film noir set in contemporary urban China, Black Coal, Thin Ice stood out with LIAO Fan’s mesmerizing performance and director DIAO Yinan’s expressive delivery of the eerie side of humanity.

Liao Fan won the Silver Bear for Best Actor in Berlin, which marks the first time ever a Chinese actor won the top actor award in Berlinale. The media ran wild celebrating this achievement of the great actor who has been underestimated for almost two decades.

Represented by Huayi Brothers Talent Agency, Liao was lately crowned as the “most valuable actor” by WANG Zhonglei, one of the “Huayi Brothers”, in a celebration party. Liao was once cast in Huayi-produced films like Assembly, If You Are the One 2 and CZ 12.

Black Coal, Thin Ice is produced by Omnijoi Media Corporation (Jiangsu Xingfu Lanhai Pictures), Boneyard Entertainment China (BEC) and China Film Group.
