Taiwan Cinema Party Launched in AFM 2014

LOS ANGELES, Nov 8 - 2014 Taiwan Cinema Party took place at the Santa Monica Loews hotel. Supported by Ministry of Culture, Taipei Economic & Cultural Office in Los Angeles, organized by the Taipei Film Commission, this event marks the first Taiwan Cinema Party at the American Film Market. 2014 has witnessed a boost of Taiwan cinema’s presence in North American market as well as American-Taiwan co-production.
Hosted by Taiwan’s well known celebrity Dennis Nieh, Taiwan announces 3 Taiwan films during the presentation. Baby Steps, the cast and crew all made an appearance at the party: Hsu Li-Kong (Producer), Barney Cheng (Writer/Director/Cast “Danny”), Stephen Israel (Producer), Gua Ah-Leh (Lead Cast “Ma”), Candi Guterres (Art Director), Anthony Stabley (Production Designer), George Shaw (Composer), Lauryn Nicole Hamilton (Supporting Cast), Michael Adam Hamilton (Lead cast “Tate”), Justine Ruedas (Supporting Cast). Another presentation came fromDream Flight with appearances from Khan Lee (Director) and Jessica Chen (Producer). Last but not least, Paradise In Service was presented with Niu Chen-Zer (Director).
American directors of Taiwanese heritage like Justin Lin, Arvin Chen and now, Barney Cheng, are believed to be ideal bridges between American and Asian film industries, with Academy Award winner Ang Lee the spiritual leader.
The most important force in promoting Taiwan cinema in film markets and festivals all around the world, Taipei Film Commission has been active in launching Taiwan Cinema Party in other markets like Marché du Film, EFM, FILMART in HKIFF and Busan’s AFM, etc. Taiwan Cinema Party has been considered one of the most unmissable event for those who want to learn the latest news about the development of Chinese-languges films, filmmakers and new talents.
